Turkey Runs

22nd Annual Davis Turkey Trot
Saturday, November 21, 2009
Civic Center Field

Fees vary depending on the race and registration date. Please visit the Davis Turkey Trot web site for details.

There are 9 different races to accomodate people of all ages and athletic abilities, beginning between 8am and 11:45am. Click HERE for details.

All events start and finish at Civic Center Field in Davis, located on B Street near the interssection of B Street and 6th Street.

Run to Feed the Hungry THANKSGIVING DAY in Sacramento

The race starts on Thanksgiving Morning, November 26, just West of the entrance to the Sacramento State campus and runs through East Sacramento. Rain or Shine!

There will be 2 separate start times.
Timed 10k Runners Only - 8:45 a.m. Please arrive early!
Timed 5k Runners Only - 9:05 am
All Untimed 5k Fun Run/Walkers - to follow behind 5k start.

Race Day Registration
7:30 a.m. until 9:00

Toy Drives & Toy Runs

Renegade Classic Sacramento and Cache Creek Casino present the 7th Annual Santa Claus Toy Run in Sacramento on Saturday, November 21st 2009.

This run beneftis local charities of Northern California that provide toys for underpriviledged children during the holiday season.

33rd Annual Original Sacramento Toy Run
This is the Original State Capitol Toy Run. This year it is being held at the Sacarmento 6 Drive-in off HWY 50 and Bradshaw. The Marines Toys For Tots Foundation distribute the toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in our community.

All motorcycles will leave on a pack ride at noon.

KCRA 3 and the California Highway Patrol present:
The 11th Annual CHiPS for Kids Toy Drive

Bring a new, unwrapped toy to any participating school, CHP location, the Elk Grove Automall, Big Valley Ford, or other participating locations between Nov. 23rd and Dec. 20th. The toys will be delivered to hospitalized and disadvantaged children just in time for the holidays.

You can also join KCRA 3 and the California Highway Patrol and drop off your toy any time from 4:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4th at the main gate of Cal Expo.

Food Drives

Sacramento Zoo's November Canned Food Drive
Daily in November - 10 am to 4 pm
Bring a canned food item or other non-perishable item when you visit the Zoo and recieve $1 off your Zoo admission! Donations benefit the Sacramento Food Bank and families in need. The Food Bank especially needs items such as canned soups and fruits, tuna, peanut butter, mac and cheese, ramen and baby formula and cereals.

CalWORKs Cares Food, Toy & Clothes Drive
2009 CalWORKs Cares Food, Toy & Clothes Drive is collecting food, toys and clothes to give to students and their families on Monday, December 7, 2009.

Donations can be made through November 19th at:

Arrangements can be made for pick up service.

News 10's Coats for Kids Drive

Both new and gently used coats are welcome. Used coats do not have to be freshly cleaned; Swanson's Cleaners will clean the coats. All sizes are welcome, but children's coats are in particularly short demand.

Coats can be donated until December 18, 2009, at any of the locations listed here, or at any of these events. <--Click on links to see lists.

Coats will be distributed by The Salvation Army on December 30, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (or until all coats are gone) at Cal Expo in Sacramento and at The Salvation Army locations in Antioch, Fairfield, Lodi, Modesto, Roseville, Stockton and Yuba City.
